Our Approach

Heritage is not something to be preserved. It is something to be inhabited.

Heritage is Living

Traditions that have always changed and adapted -encountered through doing, making, and meeting, not studied from a distance.

Experiential & Intergenerational

Learning through direct encounter with material, process, and the people who carry knowledge in their hands and life histories.

Local Roots, Global Reach

Deep cultural grounding as the foundation for confident engagement with the wider world - locally specific, globally relevant.

Belonging Before Becoming

Unconditional space as the precondition for everything else. The becoming grows from the belonging.

Change is continuous. Transmission requires intention. Jonaki provides the structured occasions.

FLAGSHIP PROGRAMMES

Our programmes are being designed in close consultation with communities. Details will be shared as they take shape.

Roots & Routes

Space: All three spaces + Schools and Colleges

An immersive cultural learning programme, and leadership and employability accelerator grounded in local histories, oral traditions, and cultural identity. Designed to build confidence, curiosity, and a sense of place and belonging in a globalised world..

Participants discover how their specific heritage connects to global conversations about sustainable production, cultural sovereignty, and civic life. Not about becoming less Assamese to engage with the world. About understanding how being deeply Assamese is a qualification for it.
